Welcome to Tibet, known as the Roof of the World! Your adventure starts in Lhasa, where your tour guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to wander through the city at your leisure and acclimatize to the high altitude. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of this historic city as you prepare for the days of exploration ahead.

Today, we’ll be taking the necessary steps to obtain a Tibetan temporary driving license. Our guide will be on hand to assist you with all the paperwork required for this process. Once that’s taken care of, the remainder of the day is yours to further acclimatize to the altitude and explore the city at your own pace. This is a great opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant culture, visit local markets, or simply relax and prepare for the upcoming adventures on the road.

Today’s journey through Lhasa begins with a captivating visit to the iconic Potala Palace, renowned as one of the world’s most magnificent structures. We’ll then proceed to the revered Jokhang Temple, a spiritual focal point of Tibetan Buddhism. Our exploration continues with a stroll along Barkhor Street, an ancient path encircling the Jokhang Temple, steeped in history and tradition.

Lastly, we’ll visit the renowned Sera Monastery, where you’ll witness an age-old tradition as monks engage in lively debates within the tranquil courtyard. This immersive experience offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage and spiritual practices that have endured for centuries in Tibet.

Get ready for an exhilarating motorcycle adventure as we depart from the hotel after breakfast, setting our sights on Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Along the way, we’ll be treated to the awe-inspiring beauty of Yamdrok Lake, a sacred body of water nestled at an elevation of 4,400 meters. The vibrant turquoise hues of this pristine lake form a mesmerizing contrast against the rugged mountain terrain, offering a picture-perfect vista.

Continuing our journey across the vast Tibetan plateau, we’ll encounter the majestic Karola Glacier, towering at an impressive altitude of 5,045 meters. As we ride closer, the glistening expanse of this ancient glacier unfolds before us, its icy white contours leaving an indelible impression.

Our route then leads us to the historic city of Gyantse before finally reaching our destination, Shigatse. Along the way, we’ll be surrounded by fluttering prayer flags, each whispering tales of spiritual significance amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Tibet.

Our day commences with a visit to the esteemed Tashilhunpo Monastery, the official residence of the Panchen Lama and the largest Gelug monastery in the Shigatse Prefecture. As we wander through its cobblestone alleys, we’ll have the privilege of exploring its revered halls and chapels, immersing ourselves in the rich cultural heritage of this significant site.

Later in the day, we set our course for Tingri, continuing our journey through the captivating landscapes of Tibet.

Our morning journey takes us through picturesque villages, where the friendly greetings of locals uplift our spirits. As we press on, we ascend to the Gyawu-La pass (5,198m), treating us to awe-inspiring vistas of towering giants including Mt. Makalu (8463m), Mt. Lhotse (8561m), Mt. Everest (8844m), and Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m). It’s a breathtaking panorama of majestic peaks that leaves us spellbound. Continuing our adventure, we arrive at Rongbuk Monastery, situated at the highest elevation of any monastery globally. From this vantage point, we’re afforded the most exceptional views of Mt. Everest, its grandeur both humbling and magnificent. After soaking in the sights, we retrace our path back to Tingri, our hearts filled with the memories of this extraordinary journey.
