Upon the arrival of all tour participants, we’ll gather for a welcoming meeting, complemented by refreshments, where everyone—participants and tour leaders alike—will be introduced. The focus of the evening is on fostering connections among the group. For those who still have energy to spare after their travels, there’s the option to visit a local bar close by, offering a relaxed setting to further acquaint yourselves and kick off the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Denver - Gunnison

(Driving day 1: 330 km/205 miles)

We kick off the day with an informative meeting to discuss the details of your Buffalo Bill Mountain Tour, including practical information and preparations for motorcycle and car rental checkouts.

After checking out of the hotel, we’ll mount our bikes and set off on the 4,200 km long Sturgis & Buffalo Bill Mountain tour. As we leave Denver behind, we embark on an extraordinary journey rich in history, adventure, and enjoyment. The initial part of our ride will take us through some urban and interstate driving before we hit our designated back roads, surrounded by stunning landscapes. We’ll start off easy to allow everyone to get comfortable with the traffic and driving conditions.

Our adventure truly begins on exciting motorcycle roads. Our first stop is in Fairplay, to explore the “ghost town” of South Park City, now serving as a museum dedicated to the old Wild West. After soaking up some Wild West history, we’ll continue to Gunnison, where we’ll relax and share stories from the first enchanting leg of our journey. This day sets the tone for the incredible experiences that await us on the road ahead.

Day 3: Gunnison - Durango

(Driving day 2: 372 km/231 miles)

Today, we embark on a journey along some of the USA’s finest back roads, leaving Gunnison behind to traverse the stunning Silverthread Scenic Byway. With curvy paths winding through awe-inspiring scenery, make sure your cameras are at the ready for the unforgettable vistas. Our first stop is Lake City, a spot perfect for soaking in the serene atmosphere and capturing the beauty of our surroundings.

Afterward, we’ll continue to South Fork for a lunch break, recharging before we tackle the magnificent Wolf Creek Pass. This segment promises breathtaking views and exhilarating riding, a highlight for any motorcycle enthusiast.

Our day concludes in Durango, a historic mining town that once drew treasure hunters by the droves, eager to extract gold and silver from the mineral-rich mountains. The wealth generated from these noble metals turned Durango into a thriving, prosperous city, seemingly untouched by economic downturns. Durango’s residents maintain a lifestyle free from the typical hustle and bustle, known for their hospitality and friendliness.

Day 4: Durango - Moab

Today marks a highlight of our tour, offering an array of incredible driving experiences on enchanting backroads, navigating through sharp curves, and taking in the spectacular mountain scenery, waterfalls, and charming old Pioneer towns.

Departing Durango, our first stop will be at roadside hot springs, offering a unique natural experience right by the road. From there, we journey north on breathtaking mountain roads towards Silverton, where we’ll visit the world’s “highest” Harley Davidson dealer in terms of elevation.

Next, we embark on the renowned “Million Dollar Highway,” also part of the San Juan Skyway, which stands as the fourth-best motorcycle road in America. This route promises an unparalleled driving experience, creating memories that will last a lifetime. The “San Juan Skyway” earns its name as we traverse mountain passes soaring 3,353 meters (about 11,000 feet) above sea level, presenting us with stunning vistas that feel close enough to touch the sky. We’ll make several stops along the way to fully appreciate this extraordinary journey. Upon reaching the end of the road in Ouray, you may even feel the urge to turn back and experience it all over again. Here, we’ll take a lunch break and reflect on the day’s adventures.

Our fairytale day continues as we ride on beautiful backroads through the mountains towards Moab, situated at the gateway to Arches National Park. The evening will be spent amid these spectacular landscapes, rounding off a day filled with awe and wonder.

Day 5: Moab

(Fun and explorer day)

Today is dedicated to exploring the wonders of Moab, the breathtaking Arches National Park, and the expansive Canyonlands, all at your own pace. A visit to Arches National Park is a must, where unforgettable rock formations will indeed take your breath away. We highly recommend taking the time to hike out to the world-famous Delicate Arch, a symbol of Utah’s natural beauty and a sight that encapsulates the majesty of the park.

For those seeking adventure, Moab offers countless opportunities for ATV, Jeep rentals, or even horseback riding, providing various ways to explore the rugged terrain and unique landscapes.

Arches National Park is home to the world’s largest concentration of natural stone arches. This 73,000-acre park boasts over 2,000 of these natural wonders, set against a backdrop of red, arid desert interspersed with some of the most unusual eroded sandstone formations, including pinnacles, spears, balanced rocks, and, of course, the iconic arches themselves.

Day 6: Moab - Park City

oday serves as a transitional journey, bridging the gap between our recent adventures and the upcoming excitement of the Wild West run & Yellowstone National Park. We’ll be heading north towards Salt Lake City, with our day culminating in the picturesque Park City.

This leg of the trip offers a chance to reflect on the experiences thus far while anticipating the wonders that lie ahead. Park City, known for its stunning landscapes and rich history, provides a serene backdrop for our evening. It’s a perfect moment to gather our thoughts, share stories, and prepare for the adventures awaiting in Yellowstone and beyond.

Day 7: Park City - Jackson

(Driving day 5: 470 km/292 miles)

Today, our journey takes us towards the enchanting Yellowstone National Park and the thrilling “Wild West Run.” Our route leads us northward, passing by the stunning Bear Lake, a natural freshwater lake on the Utah-Idaho border known for its vibrant turquoise waters and scenic beauty.

Continuing on to Montpelier, we’ll delve into the rich history of the Old West with a visit to the site of Butch Cassidy’s infamous bank robbery. This stop offers a glimpse into the daring exploits of one of the most notorious outlaws in American history, adding a layer of intrigue to our adventure.

Our drive then leads us to Jackson, nestled in the valley of Jackson Hole. This area, a popular vacation destination for affluent Californians, boasts breathtaking landscapes and a vibrant cultural scene. Day 8: Jackson - Cody

Today marks a tour highlight that promises a day filled with extraordinary and unforgettable experiences. We’ll be venturing into the majestic Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, embarking on one of the most celebrated motorcycle routes in the US—the Wild West Run (Jackson – Yellowstone Lake). Our journey takes us past the stunning Jackson Lake before we arrive at the iconic Old Faithful Geyser. Known for its predictable eruptions, occurring roughly every 35 to 120 minutes, Old Faithful was the first geyser in the park to be named, receiving its moniker during the Washburn-Langford-Doane Expedition in 1870.

Our adventure through Yellowstone continues as we take on the Grand Loop Rd, leading to a stop at the breathtaking Artist Point, offering views that truly capture the essence of the park’s beauty. The day also brings us up close with live buffalo herds, providing thrilling encounters with these majestic creatures while reminding us to maintain a safe distance from the wildlife, including bears, wolves, elk, and buffalos.

The Beartooth Highway’s legendary status among bikers globally is well-earned, offering an unparalleled experience of winding mountain roads, sharp hairpin turns, and breathtaking views. Given the demanding nature of this drive, we’ll proceed at a comfortable and safe pace, ensuring everyone’s safety while allowing ample time to savor the ride and the vistas. En route to Beartooth Pass, our journey will include the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway, another unforgettable experience that promises stunning landscapes and a taste of the area’s rich history. After our exhilarating ride back to Cody, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the spectacular Buffalo Bill Center of the West, a museum that pays homage to the life and legacy of one of the most iconic figures of the American West. Day 10: Cody - Gilette

Prepare for another day filled with thrilling rides on spectacularly curvy and fun mountain roads as we venture into the stunning landscapes of Big Horn Canyon & National Forest. The breathtaking scenery promises to be a visual feast, ensuring your smile remains firmly in place throughout the journey.

We’ll take a break for lunch and some cowboy-shopping in Sheridan, offering a chance to immerse yourself in the local culture and perhaps pick up some unique souvenirs. Following our stop in Sheridan, our route takes us past the iconic “Spotted Horse” bar, a landmark known to many travelers and locals alike, as we make our way to Gillette.

Day 11: Gillette - Deadwood

Embark on a day of thrilling exploration in the Black Hills, the celebrated site of the Sturgis Bike Rally, known as the mother of all bike rallies. Today promises an adventure that you’ll remember for a lifetime! Our journey begins with a ride to the iconic Devil’s Tower, an awe-inspiring geological feature that gained additional fame as a backdrop in the sci-fi movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” Take a moment to appreciate the majestic rock formations and the natural beauty that surrounds this unique monument.

Next, we’ll make our way to Sundance, the namesake of the infamous Sundance Kid, adding a touch of Wild West history to our adventure. Following this, our route leads us through the stunning Spearfish Canyon, a masterpiece of nature featuring landscapes so picturesque they seem as though they’ve been lifted from a painting.

Our journey through the Black Hills continues as we pass through Deadwood, a town steeped in history and legend. We’ll visit the “No. 10 Saloon,” the infamous site where Wild Bill Hickok met his end during a poker game, holding what is now famously known as the “Deadman’s Hand.” Deadwood, located within an Indian reservation, is unique for its gambling rights, echoing the town’s rich history of lawlessness and adventure. It was also in Deadwood that Calamity Jane, the renowned female sharpshooter, first encountered Wild Bill Hickok, with whom she would later become romantically involved.

Our journey through the Black Hills Run leads us to the Crazy Horse Memorial, the world’s largest rock-carved monument. This awe-inspiring sculpture is a testament to the rich history and culture of the Native American people.

From there, we venture into Custer and explore Custer State Park, a place that mesmerized General George A. Custer with its stunning natural beauty. As we navigate Needles Highway and Wildlife Loop, keep your eyes peeled for live buffalo sightings—a truly wild encounter.

Lunch will be enjoyed in the great outdoors of Custer State Park, offering a moment to relax amidst the park’s picturesque landscapes. Our adventure continues with a visit to Mount Rushmore, where the monumental carvings of three presidents stand as a testament to American heritage.

Day 13: Sturgis - Scottsbluff

As we bid farewell to Sturgis, our journey takes us southward, with our first destination being the awe-inspiring Badlands National Park. Renowned for its rugged beauty, the Badlands attract visitors from across the globe. The park’s unique geological formations hold one of the world’s most extensive fossil beds, revealing ancient mammals such as rhinoceroses, horses, and saber-toothed tigers that once roamed this land.

Spanning 244,000 acres, Badlands National Park offers a vast expanse of mixed-grass prairie, home to contemporary wildlife including bison, bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, and the endangered black-footed ferrets, providing a glimpse into the area’s ongoing natural history.

Our day concludes in Scottsbluff, marking our final night on the road. Our route takes us southward, passing through Cheyenne and Greeley, before making our way back to Denver. This marks the conclusion of an unforgettable expedition through some of the most majestic landscapes and historic sites the Rocky Mountains and the surrounding areas have to offer.

Upon our arrival in Denver, we’ll return the bikes and shed our riding gear for more comfortable attire, signifying the end of our road adventure. The afternoon will be spent in the vicinity of our hotel, allowing us some leisure time to relax and perhaps reflect on the many memories we’ve created together.

Our journey concludes with a farewell dinner, where we’ll share stories, laughter, and maybe even plans for future adventures. This dinner isn’t just a meal; it’s a celebration of the bonds formed and the experiences shared over the course of our tour, a fitting end to an incredible journey through the heart of America’s wilderness and history.

The group will travel together by shuttle to the airport, marking the end of an extraordinary journey.
